  On the Road to Smart Mobility: Challenges and Opportunities

  • Dr. Hyungchai Park

  Hyungchai Park is a Research Director of Mobility at the Stanford Center at the Incheon Global Campus (SCIGC). SCIGC is Stanford University’s flagship research center in South Korea and conducts university-wide interdisciplinary research into the implementation of a smart city. Among four research pillars of SCIGC, he leads the pillar “Vehicle & Infrastructure Systems,” which takes data-driven approaches to understand urban traffic systems and develops technologies for both vehicles and traffic infrastructures to enhance efficiency, safety, and sustainability of the urban traffic systems. He received a Ph.D. degree in 2017 in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University. In the thesis, he developed integrated chassis control systems which increase the margin of vehicle’s stability and maneuverability in adverse driving conditions. After graduation, he worked as a senior control engineer for an automotive startup in Silicon Valley which develops vision analysis and advanced driver-assistance systems.

  Dr Godfrey Gaston MBE is a Cyber Security Innovation and Entrepreneurship consultant and currently advises and supports several cyber security startup companies.
   
  He was formerly Executive Director of the Institute of Electronics, Communications and Information Technology (ECIT), and Director at the Centre for Secure Information Technologies (CSIT), based at Queen’s University Belfast, Northern Ireland. Prior to this, he worked in the semiconductor industry for GEC Plessey Semiconductors, start-up BCO Technologies (acquired by Analog Devices) and Engineering Manager for Analog Devices. Current interests include supporting technology startups (especially in the cyber security sector), development of cyber security ecosystems and the linking of these ecosystems internationally.
  
  Godfrey also co-founded the network security start-up company, Titan IC, acquired by Mellanox Technologies/NVIDIA in March 2020.

  Emeritus Professor Jong-in Lim is the representative expert in Cyber Security in Korea. He served as a special advisor to the president for national security in 2015. As the pioneer of information security in Korea, he started the field as a Cryptography expert, and now he is working as a cyber security policy expert. Currently Prof. Lim working as advisor at Kim&Chang(Law firm), and participating many advisory works including cybersecurity advisor on National Security Council. Also, he was a former President of the Korea Institute of Information Security and Cryptography, and a member of the Personal Information Protection Commission under direct jurisdiction of the President, chairman of the Digital Forensic Advisory Committee under Supreme Prosecutor’s Office, and a chairman of the Korea CISO Association.
  
  On the first ‘Day of Information Security’ in 2012, Korea government awarded him the Order of Merit by the President, for his contribution to the Information Security Field in Korea.
